Don't Get the Common Cold

Everybody knows that, if you wish to stay healthy, you should take in enough Vitamin C. People are told again and again how useful Vitamin C is to staying healthy. After all, what is the first thing people say when you catch a cold? "Take some more Vitmain C!" Now, nonetheless, there is some speculation regarding whether Vitamin C can actually help prevent the common cold.

You've heard about Echinacea before now. The main idea of Echinacea is that, if you take it when those first few cold symptoms start to manifest, you will be able to make the cold stay away. In recent years, however, more and more studies have shown that Echinacea is not much more than a placebo effect for people suffering from the common cold. At best, the product will lower the length of the cold by 20 hours. That’s almost never a remedy.

So how do you stop that cold from setting in? Here are a few tips that should assist you.

1. Wash your hands. Wash your hands often. This is one of the best and most surefire ways to actually ward off a common cold. How come this is so successful? Think about it. Your hands will enter into contact with flu and cold bacterias than any other part of your body. Think of all of the things you touch during a day. You improve your probability of coming down with something every time you touch anything that has already been touched by someone suffering from a cold or the flu. If you wash your hands a great deal, you will be far less likely to let any of the germs that you have made contact with get into your system and grab hold.

2. Get lots and lots of rest. Staying up late can be very tempting, especially when your life is tense. You want to get more work done. You wish to spend more time with pals. Maybe there exists a television show you've been waiting to catch. Doing this, then again, significantly reduces the rest you receive. Your body has to get a proper amount of rest so that it has enough power to fight off infection. It is when you're sleeping and resting that the system is able to do the maintenance and repairs that you need to do. The more rest you allow yourself to get, the easier a time your body is going to have keeping infections and illnesses from setting in.

3. Drink lots of water. Your entire body requires at the very least eight eight ounce cups of h2o every day to be healthy. Staying effectively hydrated is how one's body is able to flush the toxins out of your system. If you aren’t properly hydrated, bacteria just refuse to leave instead of getting flushed out. Remember: you can go at least seven days without eating solid food before you die. Without drinking water, you will only last a day or two. Doesn't this kind of make the importance of correct hydration hit home?

Here's the thing: there isn't a magical remedy for the flu. What you can do, however, is practice good sense, wash your hands a lot, get enough rest each night and stay properly hydrated.
